WORKING PATTERN: Monday-Friday 37.5h per week

In this role, you’ll collaborate with Analysts and Senior Analysts for sample preparation and analysis. You’ll gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful scientific work, with full training provided.

Main Responsibilities:
• Preparatory work for water sample testing including preparation of reagents and work areas.
• To undertake disposal of samples and general cleaning and washing up duties.
• Recording and storage of water samples. Undertaking data entry using a Laboratory Information Management System including relocation of samples.
• Housekeeping - ensuring the laboratory work area is clean, tidy and free from rubbish and assisting with deliveries and removal of rubbish.
• Undertake supplementary tasks involved in the laboratory analysis of water from a variety of sources.
• Ensuring that procedures are followed routinely, and departures or changes are brought to the attention of Senior Analysts, Deputy Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Manager.
• Implementing all aspects of the Quality Management System and associated documentation and to notify Senior Analysts and/or Laboratory Manager of any departure from the Quality Management System and procedures.
• To uphold and comply with the statutory provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any other relevant legislation and policies or procedures relating to Health & Safety at Work.
• To uphold and comply with the requirements of International Standard EN ISO/IEC 17025 ‘General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’.
• To undertake any other reasonable task or responsibility requested by a senior manager.
Qualifications Desirable:
• A minimum of G.C.S.E grade C or above in Science, Maths and English is desirable.
