WORKING PATTERN: Tuesday - Saturday 0800-1600

Join Our Team as a Laboratory Technician!

Are you passionate about building a career in the scientific field? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you! We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team at our Crayford Laboratory.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with Senior Technicians, Analysts, and Senior Analysts to apply classical wet chemistry techniques for sample preparation, extraction, and analysis. You’ll gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful scientific work, with full training provided.

Main Responsibilities:

• Prepare Water Samples for testing, by filtering samples, splitting them into separate containers and adding different acids.

• Recording and Storage of water samples. Undertake data entry using a Laboratory Information Management System including relocation of samples.

• Housekeeping, ensuring the laboratory work area is clean, tidy and free from rubbish. Liaising with logistics and senior analysts on stock control.

• To undertake disposal of samples and general cleaning and washing up duties.

• Undertake laboratory analysis of water from a variety of sources following simple practical wet chemistry techniques.

• Ensuring that procedures are followed routinely and departures or changes are brought to the attention of the Senior Analyst, Deputy Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Manager.

• Implementing all aspects of the Quality Management System and associated documentation and to notify Senior Analysts and/or Laboratory Manager of any departure from the Quality Management System and procedures.

• To uphold and comply with the statutory provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any other relevant legislation and policies or procedures relating to Health & Safety at Work.

• The Scientific Officers will uphold and comply with the requirements of International Standard EN ISO/IEC 17025 ‘General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’.

• To undertake any other reasonable task or responsibility requested by a senior manager.

Qualifications required:

• A minimum of G.C.S.E grade C or above in Science, Maths and English is desirable.
